Zamboanga is a city in Mindanao, Philippines. The city is said to be already highly urbanized and is one of the chief cities in Mindanao. There are many points of interest in the city, some of these are; Great Santa Cruz Island, and the Fort Pillar.
Popularly known as Great Sta. Cruz Island, anyone will be curious hearing about the pink sand beach that can be seen in the said island. Indeed, it is a unique island! What makes the island pink is because of the crushed corals, and unexplainable natural formations that blended well with the white sand. The island is accessible to the public while the other island - the one called Little Sta. Cruz is restricted to the public. So don’t miss seeing the island when you’re in Zamboanga!
The museum is a 17th century military defence fortress and is named after the patron saint, Nuestra Senora del Pilar. Exhibition of 18th and 19th century prints are some historics that can be seen inside. The Fort Pilar serves now as a open-air shrine. It is the symbol of cultural heritage of Zamboanga city and is the primary landmark. A tour in Zamboanga city wouldn’t be complete without roaming around the Fort Pilar!
